PAN PAN is used to indicate that an urgent message must be sent regarding the safety of the crew or the vessel.
SECURITE is a warning signal indicating that a coastal or radio station is about to emit a message regarding meteorological or navigational warnings
However experienced you are in handling a boat, you will feel safer if emergency numbers are to hand, so that you can phone in case of danger or if you need assistance.
